MICHAEL Schumacher secured a record-equalling fifth world title at the French Grand Prix last weekend and now that the championship is over, fans will be wondering just what's left in store for the rest of this year's Formula One season.
With the championship sealed, the focus will certainly shift to the battle for the second spot in the drivers' category and also for the less glamorous constructors' title, which Ferrari should easily wrest within the next few races.
There is no doubt that the level of excitement in Formula One will reduce drastically for not many fans will be bothered about the fight for the number two slot. Even the most hardcore Ferrari fan will surely lose interest.
It is an unfortunate fact in sports that no one really bothers about the runner-up. Remember who was second behind Schumacher last year?
For sporting fans, the excitement lives on for as long as the tournament or championship is undecided. Unlike the World Cup, which ends with a final, and which fans can follow through to the all- important last match, in Formula One, the 17-round championship allows for the race to end before the season is over.
