Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective pursued in the following lines is to offer an approach to the artistic manifestations of an apocalyptic nature displayed in the crypt of Saint Magnus in Anagni. To this end, we employ the iconographic method, which allows us to consult the textual sources of the passages as well as to relate the iconographic types to their conventionalized cultural tradition. [...]the images associated with the apocalyptic theme in Anagni exhibit significant differences from their counterparts and stand out as remarkable cases within the medieval apocalyptic imaginary.
