HACIA UNA CARTOGRAFÍA DE LA PSIQUIATRÍA EN AMÉRICA LATINA. APUNTES PARA UNA HISTORIA DE LA PSIQUIATRÍA DE AMÉRICA LATINA

Abstract

Como parte de una investigación más amplia que analiza la participación de Gregorio Bermann en la construcción de la Asociación Psiquiátrica de América Latina (APAL), el presente estudio se enfoca en las tramas, proyectos e intereses disciplinares que intervinieron en los momentos fundacionales de esta institución. Desde una perspectiva historiográfica crítica que se nutre de los conceptos de la Historia Intelectual y la Historia de la Psiquiatría, buceamos sobre diferentes trayectorias y enfoques disciplinares que se cuestionaron sobre el papel y la función de la psiquiatría en Latinoamérica. A partir del análisis hermenéutico de documentación primaria, reconstruimos una cartografía de profesionales en la que es posible reconocer distintos proyectos que promueven una Psiquiatría para América Latina: Psiquiatría Folclórica, Psiquiatría Transcultural y Sociopsiquiatría.

As part of a broader investigation that analyzes Gregorio Bermann's participation in the construction of the Latin American Psychiatric Association (APAL), this study focuses on the narratives, projects, and disciplinary interests that intervened in the founding moments of this institution. From a critical historiographic perspective that draws on the concepts of Intellectual History and the History of Psychiatry, we explore different trajectories and disciplinary approaches that questioned the role and function of psychiatry in Latin America. Through the hermeneutic analysis of primary documentation, we reconstruct a mapping of professionals in which it is possible to recognize different projects aimed at promoting a Psychiatry for Latin America: Folkloric Psychiatry, Transcultural Psychiatry, and Sociopsychiatry.
