El patrimonio cultural, turismo y sostenibilidad: caso del exconvento Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Oaxaca, México *

Abstract

El artículo analiza el grado de incidencia del patrimonio cultural en el turismo y el desarrollo sostenible de las ciudades, mediante el estudio de caso de uno de los espacios culturales más representativos en México por su valor histórico, arquitectónico y artístico: el exconvento de Santo Domingo de Guzmán, que alberga al Museo de las Culturas de Oaxaca en la misma ciudad. El estudio se lleva a cabo mediante el método estadístico de regresión, considerando la auencia de visitantes al museo y los indicadores del desarrollo sostenible en la Zona Metropolitana de Oaxaca, observándose que el patrimonio cultural tiende a inducir favorablemente el ujo turístico y el desarrollo sostenible de la ciudad.

The degree of incidence of cultural heritage on tourism and sustainable development of cities is analyzed through a case study of one of the most representative cultural spaces in Mexico, the ex-convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán and the Museum of the Cultures of Oaxaca. e study is carried out by the statistical regression method, considering the ow of visitors to the museum and the indicators of sustainable development in the Metropolitan Zone of Oaxaca, observing that the cultural heritage tends to favorably induce the tourist ow and the sustainable development of the city.
