Analysis of Attitudes Surrounding the Policy Change for Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Service Members in the United States Armed Forces Since the Repeal of Don’T Ask, Don’T Tell

Abstract

This study was conducted at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and was designed to further investigate the attitudes of service members in the United States Armed Forces since the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell. The scales utilized for this study are the Military Organizational Commitment Questionnaire, Homosexuality/Bisexuality Attitude Scale, and Integrating Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Service Members Into Military Occupations. I will employ the snowballing technique using my contacts in the military in order to survey the members of the armed forces. The source of participants will be accessed both online with www.surveymonkey.com and in person to obtain an accurate representation of military personnel. The primary hypothesis of this study is that members of the United States Armed Forces are not negatively impacted by the presence of gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals, as measured by the Military Organizational Commitment Questionnaire.
