EXALTACIÓN DE LA FAMILIA CARRILLO DE ALBORNOZ EN LAS VIDRIERAS DE LA CAPILLA DE LOS CABALLEROS DE LA CATEDRAL DE CUENCA

Abstract

En la gran restauración de la Capilla de los Caballeros terminada en los años veinte del siglo XVI, se abrieron ocho ventanas que se cerraron con sus respectivas vidrieras, de las que únicamente cuatro han llegado hasta nosotros. Partimos de una primera descripción que hizo Baltasar Porreño a principios del siglo XVII, por la que conocemos la iconografía de todas ellas. En el presente trabajo concretamos lo conocido, y analizamos y ampliamos la iconografía de los vitrales que conservamos, poniéndolos en el contexto de exaltación de la familia Carrillo de Albornoz manifestada por todo el «sacellum militum».

In the great restoration of the Chapel of the Knights, completed in the twenties of the sixteenth century, eight windows were opened that were closed with their respective stained glass windows, of which only four have come down to us. We start whith a first description made by Baltasar Porreño at the beginning of the seventeenth century, from which we know the iconography of all of them. In this work we specify what we know and analyze and expand the iconography of the preserved stained glass windows, placing them in the context of the exaltation of the Carrillo de Albornoz family, manifested by the entire «sacellum militum».
