Abstract

Alternate abstract:

War is a political activity even though it is often presented in military terms. What is just belongs to ethics or law. The idea of a just war, full of contradictions, presents an eternal discourse foreign to its temporal framework. And, furthermore, it does not solve it by adding two concepts located on different plans. Just wars are contrary to political commerce and favor the expansion of violence by providing it with an alibi or legitimation. These warfare trend to be total and jeopardize politics. In fact, peace is based not on justice but on injustice that, being aware of it, is bearable for the parties. Paradoxically, unjust wars, close to banditry, deprived of their legitimation, tend to be limited and are more accessible from the perspective of political commerce. That is, they are more in line with the political -not sacred- nature of the war.
