Abstract

Just like a park invites you to explore, editorial design can open doors to deep content immersion. This project aims to create a publication symbolizing Asprela Central Park, drawing a parallel between the PCA project and the book’s editorial design. Since the park was designed to flood in a controlled manner, storing up to 10,000 m³ of water, we seek to reflect this idea of flow in the editorial concept. The goal is to apply graphic strategies that create a sense of flow, ensuring clear communication between form and content. The aim is to identify and apply graphic strategies that create a sense of flow, ensuring effective communication between form and content. Through a methodology of a mixed nature, combining design analysis, case studies and interviews with the architects responsible for the project.

At the same time, there will be a survey of editorial references that use modular grids and inclusive design techniques, as well as studies on the efficient management of resources in the face of climate change.

The practical part of this project is based on the results of this analysis and seeks to apply the strategies identified to develop a design and formulate conclusions. Through the analysis of the publications, it was revealed to us that movement can be suggested in editorial design through visual composition, including the use of diagonal lines, overlapping elements, typographic variation and spatial organization. Applying these principles to graphic design resulted in an editorial artifact that crosses landscape and design, reinforcing the link between content and form. The results indicate that the conscious use of visual strategies can improve the communication of landscape architecture projects through editorial design. The research contributes to the field of design by demonstrating how the perception of movement can be exploited in static publications, enhancing the reader’s experience. The effectiveness of the book will be evaluated through focus groups and feedback from the architects involved in the project.

This project highlights the potential of editorial design to create a design that visually represents its subject, underlining the importance of interdisciplinarity between design and landscape architecture in constructing effective visual narratives.
