Abstract

[...]there is less research that contributes to the understanding of how this diffuse differentiation between the self and the diagnosis is consolidated in the narrative of these people. [...]this article specifically focuses on the analysis of the relationship between the social structure and this process, as part of the global analysis of results. Eight participants were selected through theoretical sampling, and the biographical narrative interview was used as data collection technique. Results suggest that emerging adulthood culturally does not prepare the conditions for the optimal development of the self, which affects the integration of the diagnosis into the narrative.
