Bobby Ray Shafer is getting married this week.
Well, actually a character he plays on the NBC television show "The Office" is tying the knot.
Shafer, a 48-year-old Charleston native, plays Bob Vance, who is rarely seen but much talked about on the award-winning comedy.
On Thursday's episode, Vance, owner of cold storage company Vance Refrigeration, is set to marry long-time fiancee Phyllis Lapin, played by actress Phyllis Smith.
Lapin is a saleswoman for Dunder-Mifflin, the fictional Scranton, Pa., paper company that serves as the basis for the hit television show.
Shafer, who still has strong ties to the Mountain State, was tight-lipped about what happens in the episode. But he said it's his best performance yet.
He's been featured in four of "The Office's" 44 episodes.
"I'm proud of all the ones I've been on," Shafer said. "But this one is my big episode."
The real-life Shafer is a lifelong bachelor with 27 years of Hollywood acting under his belt.
