The programmes, entitled 'Chasing Time In ...', were produced by Holywood-based Brian Waddell Productions for National Geographic Channels, to be screened worldwide.
The series will compete for medals in the 45th Annual International Television Programming and Promotion awards run by the New York Festivals, which showcase global TV.
The 13 episodes, presented by Trey Farley, involved contestants competing eight challenges in 12 hours in some of the world's great cities, including Rome and Sydney.
The successful contestants won a luxury break in the city while the losers were sent home on the next flight.
Contestants included local BBC presenter and DJ Joe Lindsay and his girlfriend Mary Brennan, whose challenges in Mexico City included eating a bowl of grasshoppers.
Series producer Jon-Barrie Waddell said the production team was delighted by the honour.
"It was a very complex and pressurised series to make, especially as we began filming in the aftermath of September 11," he said.
Subscribers to National Geographic can view 'Chasing Time In ...' on Wednesday night.
