Following father's success

Like father. Like son.
Some say it doesn't happen too often in the African American community, especially in recent years, but there are still enough examples of sons following the successful footsteps of their fathers.
That point was driven home late ??? the evening of the May 18 crowded Democratic Primary race for City Council at-Large. Barring a major upset, W. Wilson Goode Jr. will become the second elected city official in the family, taking a back seat, of course, to W. Wilson Goode Sr., who served two terms as the city's first and only African American mayor.
Last fall, we saw veteran state Sen. Hardy Williams pass the baton to son, Anthony Hardy Williams, when the father announced he would not seek re-election.
"I'm convinced that the best person to represent this district is my son," the longtime lawmaker said at the time.
