SEX, intrigue and power dressing are set to make your screen sizzle as L!VE TV launches Britain's hottest new soap, Canary Wharf.
Not since Joan Collins and Linda Evans swanned around in shoulder pads has there been a series to rival the glamour of '80s hits, Dallas and Dynasty.
EastEnders wallow in Albert Square misery, and a night out at the Rovers is about as racy as it gets in Coronation Street. But producers of the new show promise a programme that "looks like a million dollars" as Dallas-style drama comes to Docklands.
Set in L!VE TV's own newsroom at Canary Wharf, also the headquarters for Mirror Group Newspapers, the soap follows the lives and loves of the team behind a celebrity television show.
With blonde hair piled into a beehive and designer suits from a posh Knightsbridge store, TV chief Andrea Cavendish looks to have more in common with AbFab's Bollinger swigging Patsy than power- crazy Alexis, the character who made Joan Collins a household name.
But actress Kika Mirylees says she modelled ruthless Andrea on another famous blonde - Ivana Trump. "When Ivana was dumped, she got right back in there and became a success in her own right. She was totally self-confident and made sure she got what she wanted. That's what Andrea is like. Ambitious and totally ruthless, she has a huge ego and no matter what the situation, she always looks immaculate."
The actress, who has previously starred in The Darling Buds Of May, Lovejoy and Class Act, admits she and her character are poles apart. "But the idea of playing such a complete bitch was too good an opportunity to turn down," says Kika.
