SOCIETY girl Lady Victoria Hervey begged a nightclub boss to lend her pounds 5,000 to pay for her glittering 25th birthday party - but has refused to pay him back.
Now, in a humiliating turn of events for the It Girl, he is taking the aristocrat to court to get his money back.
Houmayoum Sharifi, owner of L'Equipe Anglaise nightclub - a stylish London celebrity hang-out - said last night: "I knew Victoria very well from the party scene. She was always coming to my club and I thought I could trust her.
"I made the mistake of thinking a woman of her breeding would keep her word - but she hasn't."
The revelation comes in the week that the Hilton Hotel are set to sue Lady Victoria for failing to settle a pounds 11,537 bill from the same party.
The society girl turned to her rich friend when a deal with OK! magazine to pay towards the pounds 28,000 cost of her birthday party at London's five-star Park Lane Hilton looked set to collapse.
She had promised A-list guests including Elton John, Posh Spice and David Beckham - but it became clear the celebrities had other commitments.
She knew without A-list names, OK! would not foot the full bill - and the Hilton Hotel wanted a pounds 10,000 deposit up front. Desperate not to lose face, she tearfully rang round her friends asking for cash.
Sharifi said: "I got a phone call on Saturday morning from Victoria's agent Stuart Watts asking if I would help out. Then she came on in tears saying the party would have to be cancelled if no one helped out."
Sharifi took pity on Lady Victoria and paid the Hilton half the pounds 10,000. Another pounds 5,000 was paid by events organiser and friend, club promoter Jonathan Wisefield. OK! magazine also put money in.
Six months on, both men are still owed the money.
"It if wasn't for me and Jonathan there would not have been a party - but we have both been left out of pocket," said Sharifi. "This is just not an acceptable way for someone to behave. I work for my money and pounds 5,000 is too much to write off as a gift.
