Phyllis Hyman has been tapped to make a special guest appearance in the new Spike Lee movie, "School Daze," in which she will perform a song composed by Lee's father, Bill Lee, entitled "Be One." Lee's 1986 film, "She's Gotta Have It," received excellent critical acclaim nationally and internationally.
Hyman's acting career took an immensely successful and ultimately inevitable career turn in '81 when she was cast in the Duke Ellington musical, "Sophisticated Ladies." She has nominated for a Tony Award for "Best Supporting Actress in a Musical" and received a Theatre World Award for...
