IT'S a world of Bulgarian folk music and sleeping with cellos - that's right, Ooberman are coming back. After being dropped by their record label and replacing a drummer, the Liverpool band are on the return trail with a new single which came out on Monday. Beany Bean is typical of Ooberman, catchy pop while at the same time completely different to anything else out there. Fun and unusual, their arty sound will not impress everyone but this material is far closer to what the band have always wanted to do.
The single is catchiness on plastic; listen and mutter the chorus continuously all day to the annoyance of work colleagues (I know I did).
They may not be as fashionable as The Coral but they have already done the flavour-of-the-month thing and it just feels good to have them back.
Ooberman now release on their own record label, Rotodisc, meaning that they are no longer restricted by music executives Singer Dan Popplewell...
