Bus operator 2Travel has been ordered to take almost a tenth of its fleet off the road by the Transport Commissioner. The commissioner ordered the company to take 10 of its fleet of 110 buses off the road for September and told 2Travel that it had 'got to improve to a much higher standard'.
The company has had 33 prohibition notices issued against it in the past two years and 2Travel yesterday blamed vandalism from schoolchildren as the cause of a number of those notices which had meant its buses being put off the road.
Appearing in Neath at a public inquiry before the Traffic Commissioner yesterday Aim-listed 2Travel said it was now fitting cameras on buses with school contracts to tackle the problem.
Company secretary David Huw Francis said, 'We are picking up instances of vandalism in cases where cameras have been fitted on buses.
