A new cookery programme will shine the spotlight on Welsh produce, as chefs from across the UK compete to create a meal fit for a Queen. The Great British Menu, due to air this spring, will see 14 of Britain's top chefs from different regions competing against each other, to try to create the perfect menu using regional recipes and local produce. The prize, if they impress the judges, and gain the public vote, will be the chance to cook lunch for the Queen and her guests on her 80th birthday in June. Spread across two months, the BBC series will feature a different region each week with two competing chefs creating a four-course meal using local ingredients and recipes derived from local tradition.
