THE AFL grand final will remain in its daytime slot for the duration of the next broadcast deal.
Despite constant speculation the game would be played under lights, moving it from the afternoon was not part of plans of the TV stations as rights were negotiated for 2007-11.
In other developments relating to the benchmark $780 million television contract awarded to Channels Seven and Ten:
THE 5pm Sunday timeslot is to become permanent;
THE AFL has retained full control of fixturing;
MONDAY night matches will not be scheduled, unless they fall on or around public holidays;
AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou denied he or the AFL commission had a frosty relationship with the winning bidders.
