OVER the past 2 1/2 years, Katie Patrick's environmental publishing company Green Pages has grown from a one-woman operation to a thriving small business employing 15 people.
She knows that her success is based on her people, who she describes as "the backbone" of her small business.
But hiring the 15th employee took her into now-new territory in industrial relations law.
Under the Rudd Government's industrial relations regime, passed in the Senate yesterday after delicate negotiations by Julia Gillard, Ms Patrick's company has exceeded the threshold for concessions on unfair dismissal claims.
