Synchronised swimming
SYNCHRONISED swimmer Amanda Laird says she would pass out, before being forced to come up for air during the middle of a routine.
One-half of Australia's synchronised swimming duet at the Olympics, Laird and partner Leonie Nichols will spend blocks of up to 20 seconds with their heads under water during their routines.
Laird admits it can sometimes be a struggle to hold her breath for so long, but the 26-year-old maintains she has never been tempted to rush back up to the surface.
