ESSENDON and Richmond's AFL preparations were hindered last night with the cancellation of a practice match at Lavington.
A torrential thunderstorm in Albury/Wodonga forced the AFL to abandon the match and turn away 8000 spectators.
Officials from both clubs were hastily trying to arrange another practice match in Melbourne somewhere today.
Rival coaches Kevin Sheedy and Danny Frawley explained to disappointed fans the reasons why the match had to be called off.
