DAVID Coulthard emerged from the battle of the jawlines to claim the 2003 Australian Grand Prix yesterday.
The playboy McLaren ace won his second GP at Albert Park, denying the equally square-jawed Michael Schumacher's drive for a fourth straight victory around the circuit.
Rain had cleared by race time but slippery conditions caused havoc as eight of the 20 drivers failed to finish.
Schumacher led with 13 laps to go but was forced into the pits to replace a dragging barge board on his $2 million Ferrari.
He finished fourth -- the first time in 20 races that Schumacher had missed a place.
With teammate Rubens Barrichello crashing out early, it was the first time since 1999 that a Ferrari was not in the top three.
Thousands of red-clad Ferrari fans in the 116,700-strong crowd were left stunned.
