SOUTH Melbourne midfielder Bill Damianos could be frozen out of playing this season by his Greek club Xanthi.
Xanthi, who loaned Damianos to South for last season, is refusing a loan extension and is demanding $200,000 for an outright transfer.
South president Peter Mitrakas said last night that his club didn't have the money for a transfer and conceded the club faced an uphill battle to gain the player's release.
"We can't count on having his services," Mitrakas said.
