FREMANTLE midfielder Troy Cook booted a goal with the last kick of the day to give the Dockers a one-point win over reigning premier Brisbane in their AFL practice match at McHale Stadium yesterday.
Cook made up for two last-quarter turnovers by kicking truly from 45m. The Dockers recorded an encouraging 8.15 (63) to 9.8 (62) victory, without recruits Trent Croad and Jeff Farmer, and against a full-strength Lions side.
While they gave up the ball too much for coach Chris Connolly's liking, the Dockers will take from the game the knowledge they can fight back when down, a trait too often missing last year when Fremantle won only two games and finished last.
