S.F. Filipino Education Center To Reopen.
SAN FRANCISCO -- Strike up a victory for Filipino American community leaders, who have for months been fighting for the reopening of a pre-school center here.
By a vote of 4-1, the San Francisco School Board voted to reopen the Filipino Education Center at its original site at Fourth and Harrison streets.
The July 6 decision came after Filipino American leaders lobbied the Board to reverse its decision two years ago to move the center to another location, the Bessie Carmichael School bungalows on Sherman Street.
