Former JTS Dean Is Dead at 83
NEW YORK -- Judah Goldin, an expert on rabbinic literature who was among the first scholars to teach Jewish studies in the secular American academy, died last Saturday at a hospital at Bryn Mawr, Pa. He was 83.
Goldin, who was a professor emeritus of post-biblical Hebrew literature at the University of Pennsylvania, died of respiratory failure, according to his friend and colleague, Jeffrey Tigay.
