NEW YORK-In honor of Poland's Independence Day and Veterans Day, Krzysztof W. Kasprzyk, die Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York, presided over a special ceremony honoring Jan Karski, the legendary World War II Polish Underground courier, who was the first person to bring news of the Holocaust directly to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and English Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1942-43.
