Green was the winning color at the 2005 MTV Music Awards as the rock group Green Day walked off with six moon men for their smashing album "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" which won garnered "Video of the Year," "Best Group Video," "Best Rock Video," "Best Direction in a Video," "Best Editing in a Video," and "Best Cinematography" at the awards show held at the American Airlines Arena on Sunday, August 28, 2005.
The star-studded 22nd annual awards show was hosted by Diddy (who made more changes than Diana Ross) and boasted an ultimate line up of stars and more music than ever before. If you missed out, check out the repeated broadcasts: Thursday, September 1st at 12:30PM (ET/PT); Saturday, September 3rd at 2PM (ET/PT); and Monday, September 5th at 10:00AM (ET/PT). Throughout the show, spectacular water effects produced by Wet Designs, the same production company that designed the fountains at the famous Bellagio in Las Vegas served as a backdrop for many of the performances.
The glitz to glam awards evening started with a gaggle of glamorous celebrities sashaying down the white carpet as they arrived in their tricked out cars and luxurious yachts. Unlike others before it, this show had more men dressed to the nines than ever before and it was a wonderful sight. Special mentions to Kanye West, Jay-Z, Usher, 50 Cents and even Snoop Dogg who won Diddy's $50,000 Best Dressed Man Award. Gwen Stefani won the $50,000 Best Dressed Female Award. Diddy will donate the monies to their favorite charity.
For the first time in awards show history, celebrities revved up their engines for a pimped out and tricked out car show. The Game, Green Day, Ludacris, Shaquille O'Neal, Snoop Dogg, Lil' Kim, and Nelly wowed the white carpet as they showed up in their customized cars.
