Gates Grants To Enhance Computer Technology In 28 Atlanta-Fulton Libraries
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System two major grants, totaling $320,650, that will expand and enhance the public's access to computer technology and the Internet in 28 of its 35 libraries.
"Access to computer technology and its latest resources is essential to our citizens' ability to compete in today's computerized world," said Fulton County Commission vice chair Emma Darnell. "Fulton County tax dollars must stretch to meet many needs in our budget. Seeking and receiving outside funding, such as these two grants from the Gates Foundation, helps us better serve our citizens through key partnerships with the private sector."
