Hollywood producer Joel Silver has protected the wetland forests and scenic riverfront of his Auldbrass Plantation in Beaufort County.
The 138-acre conservation easement will perpetually prevent development in the hardwood forests and forever will ensure an uncut buffer along the Combahee River, the S.C. Nature Conservancy announced Wednesday.
Silver previously had ensured his house and other Auldbrass buildings, designed by world-renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, were protected. Historic Charleston Foundation holds that historic preservation easement.
The conservation easement includes more than half of Auldbrass and the historic easement covers most of the rest, said Christopher Rigby, director of protection for the Nature Conservancy state chapter.
