Look at any music style out there, and you will find that some sort of evolution has happened over the course of the style's history.
Sure, there are always the staunch traditionalists that want to keep doing things the old way. But in truth, much of the purpose of art, including music, is to innovate and challenge. Good music does both.
One musical style that has been slower than most to evolve is the only form that is truly American.
Bluegrass is a style that is steeped in tradition, from the specific combination of instruments used to make the music, to the "high lonesome sound" popularized by the late Bill Monroe.
Sure, there are innovators in the genre such as Nickel Creek. But...
