The latest exhibit at Morgan Contemporary Glass Gallery, "Vision Realized," marks the 11th year the gallery has been at its Shadyside location. And it proves that each year the gallery's shows just get better and better.
The gallery is the first in Pittsburgh dedicated to exhibiting contemporary studio glass, focusing on sculpture, goblets and jewelry in glass and mixed media.
This group exhibit features new narrative, sculptural and contemplative work by nine outstanding artists including Jen Blazina, Ben Edols/Kathy Elliott, Chad Holliday, Luke Jacomb, Peter Layton, Jeremy Lepisto, Patrick Primeau and Erika Tada. This show marks the premiere of Edols/Elliott's smaller-scale, moderately priced sculptural collection referencing their signature body of work.
"Each of these artists illustrate the complexity, diversity and elegance in the contemporary studio-glass movement today," says gallery owner Amy Morgan. But, together, they demonstrate Morgan's keen sensibility and the ability to put together a winning show thanks to so many years of experience.
Visitors to the gallery will find many of the artists in the exhibit have years of experience, as well.
For example, both Benjamin Edols and Kathy Elliott have been working with glass since the late 1980s. They began working together in 1993 when they had the first exhibit of their collaborative work at De Vera Gallery in San Francisco.
