Music is only part of the appeal of the new-music group eighth blackbird, the Chicago-based ensemble that made its Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society debut Monday night at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland, a day after winning a Grammy award for Best Chamber Music Performance for their album "strange imaginary animals."
Theatricality is a central element in eighth blackbird's aesthetic, creating visual and dramatic dimensions at its concerts.
