Bill Teegins was a voice known throughout the Midwest for his play- by-play work with Oklahoma State. He was one of the 10 people involved with the Cowboys program who were killed in a plane crash on Jan. 27.
Some other voices of the Big 12 and others have come together with a living memorial to Teegins, filling in on the rest of the Cowboys broadcasts this season.
Oklahoma play-by-play announcer Bob Barry Sr. started the season- long tribute off by doing the Missouri game last Monday night. Dave Garrett of Oral Roberts handled the Nebraska game on Wednesday and Jeff Tennant of Learfield Communications, which carries the Oklahoma State network, said others have agreed to handle the other games.
Pete Taylor of Iowa State was to do the Kansas game yesterday, while John Morris of Baylor will do the Oklahoma game on Feb. 14, Greg Sharpe of Kansas State will do the Texas game on Feb. 17, and Mike Kelly of Missouri will do the Texas A&M game on Feb. 21.
Warren Swain of Nebraska, Jack Dale of Texas Tech, Bob Davis of Kansas and Bill Schoening of Texas are expected to handle the final four games of the regular season.
The announcers are donating their fees to scholarship funds established in the names of the deceased.
