Federation is preparing an audit tool to help address teacher workload.
"Meetings - endless staff, stage and KLAs ikey learning areas] meetings - without a clear purpose and where the same issues are discussed endlessly without resolution."
This was a comment from a teacher at the Beginning Teachers Conference on August 23 at Dorrigo. This comment reflected the view of the majority of primary teachers who attended a campaigns course at Federation on August 21 and 22 to consider a process for auditing teacher workload. Secondary and central school teachers agreed that endless meetings were also a major contributor to excessive workload. These meetings included pa rent/teacher/com mu ? ity, cross school and faculty meetings, closely followed by a wide range of committees.
Other key issues identified as creating huge workload demands included:
* programming (particularly where there was no sharing or collaborative approach)
