Kara Sanders hit a jump shot with 11 seconds remaining in overtime Friday as Freed-Hardeman defeated second-seeded Wayland Baptist, 92- 91, in the NAIA Division 1 Tournament in Jackson, Tenn.
Unseeded Freed-Hardeman (25-9) advanced to today's quarterfinals against seventh-seeded Auburn-Montgomery.
Freed-Hardeman forced overtime when former Craigmont High standout Qiana Elam hit a turnaround jump shot to tie the game at 81 with 1:02 left in regulation.
Wayland (29-6) then failed to score as time expired, sending the game into overtime.
Elam, who scored five of Freed-Hardeman's 11 overtime points, scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Sanders had 32 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals for Freed-Hardeman.
