Taggares A memorial service for Peter John Taggares Sr., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Othello High School gymnasium. Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Janet Lentz Taggares; two sons, Pete Taggares Jr. and Michael Taggares, both of Kennewick; two daughters, Kathleen Taggares of Los Angeles and Joni Lee Poole of Seattle; two sisters, Virginia Kercheval of Grandview, Wash., and Florence Taggares of Prosser; a brother, Stanley Taggares of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and four grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Othello Senior Center or the Heart Institute of Spokane.
Peter J. Taggares Sr., who built a small Othello farm into one of the state's largest agribusinesses, died Sunday at his home. He was 67.
The official cause of death wasn't immediately known.
"It's a terrible loss, a terrible loss," said Dan Leary, retired publisher of the Othello Outlook newspaper.
