The long walk ... Film director Martin Scorsese, blues singer Etta James, actor Kevin Bacon, actress Susan Sarandon and puppet Kermit the Frog are among the celebrities who will be enshrined in the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003.
"Next year's honorees met all the criteria in longevity, professional achievement and contributions to the community," said Johnny Grant, chairman of the walk's commitee, part of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
Other recipients next year are actors Beau Bridges, Robert Duvall, Betty Garrett, Doris Roberts, Isabel Sanford, Suzanne Somers and Carmen Zapata, comedian Drew Carey and music's Michael Bolton, Carole King, Israel Lopez "Cachao" (salsa bassist), Larry McCormick (aka Exzakt), the Osmond Family and Earl Scruggs.
Posthumous stars will be dedicated to actress Gilda Radner and composer Richard Rodgers. The walk of fame stretches 18 blocks along Hollywood Boulevard.

Cruise said a dentist advised him four months ago to get the braces. "I've had difficulty closing my mouth my whole life, and when I went to the dentist he said he could fix it for me," he said.
