NBA players will hold benefit game
National Basketball Association players will stage an exhibition game Dec. 19 in Atlantic City, N.J., to raise money for the union's lower-paid members during the lockout, one of the game's principal organizers said.
Agent David Falk said an announcement concerning the game will be made next week, provided the league and players union don't settle the lockout by Sunday.
Officials for the league and union met for more than 10 hours on Thursday, making no progress toward ending the stalemate in their longest negotiating session yet. League Commissioner David Stern afterward said that it's more likely than not the entire season will be scrapped.
* Kentucky forward Myron Anthony, suspended at the start of the season for his role in a hit-and-run accident and kept mostly on the bench since his return, has left the team. Coach Tubby Smith announced the sophomore's departure Friday.
