WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Washington University Bears opened NCAA Tournament play here Saturday night. And the defending champs did not look like the No. 1 women's basketball team in Division III.
They looked like one of the best college teams in any division.
The Bears dismantled Wheaton (Ill.) College, 75-38, before 1,042 fans at the WU Field House.
The WU juggernaut has won its past 34 games, 26 of them this season. "It was one of our better efforts," coach Nancy Fahey said.
No kidding.
"They have goals a lot different than most Division III teams," said Wheaton coach Beth Baker. "If they don't win the national title, they'll be disappointed....
