NFL warns Harrison
San Diego Chargers safety Rodney Harrison could be suspended if he makes another illegal hit, said Gene Washington, the National Football League's director of football development.
Washington fined Harrison $15,000 on Wednesday for twice using his he lmet as a weapon to hit Rams wide receiver Isaac Bruce in the Rams' 24-21 exhibition victory over the Chargers last week.
Harrison also put a hit on Rams quarterback Trent Green's knee that resulted in a season-ending injury. No penalty was called on that play.
It wasn't the first time Harrison has been fined for hitting a player in the head or for using his own helmet like a ramrod to deliver a blow.
"He's treading on a slippery slope, let's put it that way," Washington said. "He has multiple fines, and if he has another egregious personal foul, he could be suspended."
