Three-time Division III basketball player of the year Alia Fischer was pleased to find that she could keep up with the players in Division I in an all-star game in Philadelphia during the weekend of the Final Four.
But that experience of playing with the best looks as if it may have been her last.
Fischer had hoped for an invitation to the WNBA's pre-draft camp this weekend in Chicago, but no such invitation was extended.
The top college and international players were invited to the pre- draft camp at Moody Bible Institute, where the league's 16 franchises will evaluate players for the draft April 25.
Although Fischer, a 6-foot-2 center, is the only Division III player to collect player-of-the-year honors three times, the WNBA hasn't done much shopping for players below Division I.
