The favorite to win the Class A state volleyball tournament isn't here.
Tracy-Milroy, last year's champion and a participant in the tournament for five straight years, was dethroned early by MACCRAY in the Section 3A title match. The Panthers won the prestigious Apple Valley Invitational against primarily Class AA competition during the season and had eliminated MACCRAY in the sections the last two years.
"We were definitely looked at as the underdogs," MACCRAY coach Doug Runia said. "Whatever we had done, Tracy-Milroy was doing it better. Everybody I talked to gave them rave reviews."
The Wolverines gave them an abrupt end to the season. After losing the first game of the match 15-9, MACCRAY (25-2) controlled the ball and reduced Tracy-Milroy's offensive attacks....
