Stanford senior Geoff Abrams, a standout at Newport Harbor High, has been named to the USA Tennis Collegiate Team, an elite training program for the top American college players.
Abrams, the Pacific-10 co-player of the year after a 45-7 singles record, is one of six men chosen for the program, which is funded by the U.S. Tennis Assn. and is designed to provide exposure to the professional circuit in a team-oriented environment.
Abrams, who will be joined on the team by Stanford teammates Alex Kim and K.J. Hippensteel, begins play June 12 in Berkeley. He will play four additional pro tournaments with the team and he has the option to compete in the...
