Even some of her teammates were surprised when Megan Lodermeier launched a three-point shot with 13 seconds to play in Friday night's Section 1A girls' basketball championship game at the sold-out Mayo Civic Arena. But when the shot from the right side of the court swished through the net, Lodermeier had propelled tiny Goodhue to a 37-36 victory over defending state champion Rochester Lourdes.
"I didn't think I was that far out on the court," confessed Lodermeier, a 5-10 junior. "I didn't know how much time was left, but I knew we needed a score, so I shot it. And, thankfully, it went in."
