"How come everybody's all dressed up tonight?" Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell asked Sunday night at Target Center. "You don't go to a rock concert dressed up."
Well, Steve, this wasn't exactly a rock concert. It was KDWB's Star Party 2000, which is really more a party than a concert, even though such stars as Enrique Iglesias, Blaque and Smash Mouth were performing live.
Like many parties, the anticipation for Star Party was probably better than the event itself. In fact, getting tickets is the key. Getting one is like receiving an invitation to an exclusive party or a backstage pass to a concert. You couldn't buy a ticket to Star Party; they were given away to 8,000 lucky KDWB listeners.
As has been the tradition at Star Party, the revelers dressed up. Guys wore ties and coats; some even donned tuxedoes....
