Consecutive home losses to Minnesota State, Mankato and Augustana in early January left the St. Cloud State men's basketball team with a 1-2 record in the North Central Conference.
Since then the Huskies (15-7, 6-2 NCC) have won five consecutive games and moved into first place in the conference standings.
On Saturday, the Huskies avenged a 14-point loss to Minnesota State, Mankato with a 67-53 victory over the Mavericks in Mankato. The loss dropped the Mavericks (17-5, 5-2), who are ranked No. 21 in the NCAA Division II poll, out of first place.
"We are a very young team, 13 of our 15 players are in either their first or second year at St. Cloud," Huskies coach Kevin Schlagel said. "We struggled early as we tried to get accustomed to one another and learn what it takes to compete at...
