Abstract
The Shaw Communications deployment includes the placement of Ellacoya e30 IP service switches in approximately 50 sites across the broadband network that serves more than 1 million subscribers. With Ellacoya's scalable system architecture, Shaw can deploy switches throughout its broadband network, and effectively manage service plans, application bandwidth, and network policies. Shaw selected Ellacoya because of its Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) for application detection along with its system-wide reporting capability. "Ellacoya provides Shaw the reporting visibility that allows us to understand the use of the network backbone and then apply service changes and network policies dynamically to meet the ever-changing needs of our high-speed Internet customers as we deploy a variety of new digital services," added [Peter Bissonnette].
