New York Station Group Grows to Seven Stations With Watertown Addition, Santa Barbara Addition Gives Central California Station Group Fourth Station
SEATTLE, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ackerley Group (NYSE: AK), a leading media and entertainment company, announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire WWTI-TV, the ABC affiliate in Watertown, N.Y., from Smith Broadcasting Group of Watertown, L.P. Watertown is the country's 176th largest Designated Market Area (DMA).

The Ackerley Group also announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire KKFX, a low-power FOX affiliate serving Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo, Calif.; the 113th largest DMA, from FOX 11 LLC.
The Ackerley Group also entered into Local Marketing Agreements (LMAs) with both stations to provide programming and sales services beginning April 1 and continuing until the closing of both transactions. Both transactions are subject to FCC approval and are expected to close in the second quarter of 2000. Terms were not disclosed. No immediate personnel changes are expected at either station.
